WebKotor 2 is sadly similar, where the first location is kinda lackluster vs later locations. The good news in Kotor 2 though is that you get Jedi powers from nearly the get-go. Technically, Kotor 1 isn't required for Kotor 2, but Revan gets referenced a lot in Kotor 2 so I do recommend playing Kotor 1 and just powering through.
